A Portuguese musician, composer, and singer, he is an artist difficult to classify within a specific genre. Somewhere between alternative, folk, and experimental music, with evident influences from jazz and indie, he finds his inspiration.

He is best known for his exploration of the double bass, combining it with vocals, electric guitar, percussion, and live looping. He has performed on stages throughout Europe, Asia, and Latin America, and also composes soundtracks for film, theater, and dance.

Jorge da Rocha is a Portuguese musician, composer, and singer. After a period working in the visual arts, he moved to Barcelona to dedicate himself fully to music. There he trained at the Taller de Músics and completed his higher studies in Jazz and Modern Music at the Conservatori del Liceu.

After participating in various projects on the Barcelona and Berlin music scenes, both live and in the studio, Jorge embarked on his journey as a solo artist, composer, and performer. His first work stemmed from an artistic exploration of the relationship between the double bass and the voice, resulting in the album These Are a Few of My Favorite Songs, a collection of personal interpretations of artists such as Radiohead, Björk, Massive Attack, and Zeca Afonso. He later released To Drop and Let Go, a second, entirely original album recorded exclusively with voice and double bass. His third album, BLAU (Being Lost As Usual), marked a step towards self-production and an exploration of his multi-instrumentalist side. On it, he combined acoustic and electronic elements, moving towards a more alternative sound closely linked to the indie scene.

Jorge has performed his music on stages across almost all of Europe, with shows in countries such as Portugal, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, Hungary, and Romania, as well as a tour of Finland. He has also taken his music to prominent international venues such as the Hong Kong Arts Festival (China), various clubs in Tokyo, and festivals in Bolivia.

Alongside his career as a performer, he has developed a solid track record as a composer for short films, theater, and contemporary dance. He has created and performed original music for companies such as Zero en Conducta, Elías Aguirre, and Trukitrek, as well as for creators like Gastón Core, Daniel Abreu, Carla Sisteré, and Kiko López. Among his most notable collaborations is his work with the company OtraDanza, composing and performing the music live for Sempere, a work that won Best Dance Performance at the IVC Awards for the Valencian Performing Arts. He also works as a music producer, having co-produced Roam, the album by Dutch artist Eliën, with whom he collaborates live, and co-created the soundtrack for the dance piece Prometeo, also for the company OtraDanza.

His latest album, Lartic Soundtracks Vol. 1, is a completely self-produced instrumental album that brings together pieces inspired by his compositions for various dance shows, and that synthesizes years of collaboration with the performing arts world.
